The BIRRIFICIO OLTREPO is born in a great land of wines such as the Oltrepò Pavese in 2014.
The project wants to involve in a path of growth a territory already rich in food and wine excellences, so we decide to use local products such as honey and most of Pinot nero wine to produce our beers.
Our most famous beer is the “CASTANA”, with chestnut honey and a dry hop of australian hops.
This beer won the silver medal at “Birra dell’anno” in 2015 and 2017. Birra dell’anno is the most important italian award related to the craft beer. And CASTANA won also in 2017 the Bronze medal at the Brussels beer challenge, in the category “Honey beer”
Our goal is to satisfy our customers both in terms of product validity, availability and quality continuity over time.
OLTRE is our entry beer. No honey or other local products for this beer that is appreciated for its simplicity and genuineness. The abundant use of noble hops gives a clear and unmistakable drink closure. 4,8 ABV
TARAXA is our saison, personalized with dandelion honey and pepper. 5.2 ABV perfect with bacon, fried or fish
LAPA is an American pale ale, bitter thanks to American hops, 5.5 ABV and over 40 IBUs
ASTUTA is our stout with honeydew honey. It turns out to be a sweet stout, with the caramel that closes the drink, invoking another sip
The already mentioned CASTANA(6.4 ABV) is also declined in the HIVER version, (8,0 ABV), where the addition of star anise makes this beer particularly suitable for the colder months (it is our Christmas beer)
CASTANA and CASTANA Hiver are both perfect with cheese, meat and even chocolate cake.
Finally, IBRIGA is our Italian ABV 10-year-old Grape Ale. We use 40% Pinot Noir must for a complex and surprising beer
Castana and Ibriga are also available in a barricade version, with a passage of at least 12 months in oak barriques
